Елисейский Дворец:

Президент Франции Николя Саркози введет в силу закон о криминализации отрицания Геноцида армян через две недели, согласно установленному правилу. Об этом Reuters сообщил источник в президентском дворце на Елисейских полях.

23 января Сенат Национального Собрания Франции утвердил законопроект об уголовной ответственности за отрицание геноцидов, в том числе Геноцида армян. Наказание предусматривает лишение свободы сроком на год и штраф в размере 45 тыс. евро.

Как сообщает турецкая газета «Заман”, Николя Саркози 18 января направил письменное сообщение премьер-министру Турции Реджепу Таибу Эрдогану, которое было обнародовано накануне, 24 января. В послании Саркози отметил, что данный закон не направлен против определенных стран. Он призвал Анкару учитывать общие интересы Турции и Франции.
