Глава Европарламента встревожен политически мотивированным помилованием убийцы в Азербайджане

Страсбургская Конвенция по экстрадиции заключенных не должна злоупотреблятся в политических целях. Об этом говорится в заявлении президента Европарламента Мартина Шульца по случаю экстрадиции из Венгрии в Азербайджан и дальнейшем помиловании азербайджанского военного Рамиля Сафарова, зарубившего топором армянского офицера Гургена Маркаряна.

<Я встревожен политически мотивированным помилованием Сафарова со стороны президента Азербайджана Ильхама Алиева.  Вместе с тем, я призываю Армению и Азербайджан воздержаться от всяких шагов или заявлений, которые могут еще больше обострить ситуацию в регионе>,_ говорится в заявлении.

Отметим, что в связи с экстрадицией из Венгрии в Азербайджан военнослужащего Рамиля Сафарова, зарубившего спящего армянского офицера топором в Будапеште в 2004 году, и его дальнейшим помилованием президентом Азербайджана Ильхамом Алиевым, Армения прекратила дипломатические отношения с Венгрией.
