Iran has responded to Israeli attacks on Thursday night, firing missiles at targets in Israel, including in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Both side say that civilians got killed in the attacks. Clouds of war are now gathering across the Middle East and there is fear that this conflict may expand to other players. The Iranian FARS News agency quoted the new commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as saying that Iran would would take Israel to the gates of hell over the latter’s deadly onslaught against Tehran which led to the death of senior military commanders, including the IRGC own commander, Major General Hossein Salami.
According to FARS, in a letter addressed to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei following the attack, the new IRGC Commander, Major General Mohammad Pakpour wrote:
“Soon, the gates of hell will be opened upon this child-killing regime. The crime that the terrorist Zionist regime committed today in its aggression against the national security and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic will certainly not go unanswered.”
The airstrikes continued overnight between Friday and Saturday (13-14 June), with the two sides trading fire and explosions heard in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Tehran
Iran launched waves of missies in retaliation for Israeli strikes which targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and military bases on Friday, killing senior commanders and six scientists. At least two people have been killed and dozens injured, according to Israeli emergency services. Iran's representative to the UN said that in Friday's Israeli strikes and at least 320 injured, the "overwhelming majority" which were civilians.
