Корабль ВМС США проходит через Босфор на пути в Черное море

Корабль ВМС США «Форт МакГенри» 6 января 2019 года осуществляет переход через пролив Дарданеллы в Черное море в составе элементов 22-й морской экспедиционной группы.

Это десантное судно класса "Уидби Айленд".

По словам командующей 6-м оперативным флотом ВМС США вице-адмирала Лайзы Франчетти, отправка "Форта МакГенри" в Черное море подтверждает решимость США обеспечивать безопасность Черного моря и укрепляет прочные отношения Америки с союзниками по НАТО и партнерами в регионе. Также такие "рутинные операции в Черном море" демонстрируют гибкость и возможности сил 6-го флота США, добавила она.

Военно-морской флот США регулярно проводит навигацию в Черном море в соответствии с международным правом, включая Конвенцию Монтрё.
