Бгамба стал исполняющим обязанности президента Абхазии после отставки Хаджимбы

После политических потрясений в Абхазии в минувшие выходные и закулисных маневров России, президент и вице-президент самопровозглашенной республики наконец согласились уйти в отставку. Выборы нового президента назначены на 22 марта.

9 января протестующие ворвались в здание Администрации президента в Сухуме, требуя отставки президента Рауля Хаджимбы. Во время экстренного заседания парламент также присоединился к призыву.

В пятницу Верховный суд Абхазии отменил итоги прошлогодних президентских выборов. В воскресенье Избирательный комитет объявил повторное голосование 22 марта.
