Вазген Сафарян:

Членство в Евразийском союзе позволит Армении окончательно разрешить карабахскую проблему. Подобное мнение выразил сегодня журналистам глава Союза отечественных товаропроизводителей Армении Вазген Сафарян.

"Думаю, что Армения должна стать членом ЕАС не раньше и не позже того, когда это понадобиться в целях продвижения наших национальных интересов. В 20-е годы прошлого века мы уже один раз допустили ошибку, вовремя не став членом СССР, в результате чего потеряли часть своей территории. И сегодня нам не следует повторять ошибки прошлого и закрепить за собой то, что мы сегодня имеем", - заметил он.

По мнению Сафаряна, в случае ЕАС речь никоим образом не идет о воссоздании СССР, и весь проект, вся идея сводятся к более тесной экономической интеграции стран постоветского пространства. В случае Армении, по его словам, членство в ЕАС насущная необходимость, учитывая тесные связи республики с РФ, а также то, что в этом случае Армения выйдет на 160-170 миллионный рынок России, Беларуси и Казахстана. "Мы уже присоединились к соглашению о зоне свободной торговли в рамках СНГ, подписав 18 октября в Санкт-Петербурге соответствующий договор и сейчас внимательно наблюдаем за развитиями вокруг декларации о евразийской экономической интеграции с целью дальнейшей интеграции в эти проекты", - подытожил Сафарян.

Проект Евразийского Союза предполагает создание союза независимых государств с единым политическим, экономическим, военным, таможенным, гуманитарным и культурным пространством. Президенты России, Белоруссии и Казахстана Дмитрий Медведев, Нурсултан Назарбаев и Александр Лукашенко 18 ноября в Москве подписали декларацию о евразийской экономической интеграции - "дорожную карту" интеграционного процесса, конечной целью которого провозглашается создание Евразийского экономического союза.

Dozens participate in new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue process as societies prepare for the signing of historic peace agreement

The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan have recently agreed the text of a historic peace agreement that ends years of animosity and warfare. The agreement is expected to be signed soon. LINKS Europe, which has a long history of engagement with the process of peace in the region, recently launched a new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue format in the framework of the European Union's EU4Peace initiative. In the last two weeks dozens of Armenians and Azerbaijanis, including academics, students, civil society activists, journalists and other professionals, many of them young, were involved. The work is organised in five thematic groups focusing on peace and security, connectivity, environment, governance and gender and equality and in phase 2 of the project, which has just ended, around fifty participants took part in in-person and online meetings, and more than twenty others were involved indirectly. The Chairpersons of the five thematic groups met in Vilnius, 3-6 July to launch the third phase of the program. The five thematic groups are now working on separate reports, which are expected to be finished in November and presented to the two governments and other stakeholders. The reports will outline a vision, up to 2040.
