Новый министр иностранных дел Азербайджана совершил первый официальный визит в Грузию

Как сообщается, стороны обсудили процесс делимитации государственной границы. Было выражено сожаление, что из-за пандемии COVID-19 запланированные в рамках комиссии заседания и работа не состоялись. "Обе стороны выразили заинтересованность в активном продолжении работы по делимитации государственной границы и решению вопроса в духе стратегического партнерства между двумя странами".

Касаясь этого вопроса на брифинге позже, министр иностранных дел Грузии Давид Залкалиани сказал, что новые картографические материалы, обнаруженные Грузией, могут внести изменения в грузино-азербайджанское соглашение на 2006-2007 годы по пограничным вопросам.

Неоднократно несогласованная граница вызывала напряженность вокруг грузинского монастырского комплекса Давид Гареджи VI века, расположенного на границе между Грузией и Азербайджаном.

Залкалиани выразил надежду, что пограничный вопрос будет урегулирован консенсусом.

В ходе обсуждений в Тбилиси Грузия и Азербайджан выразили готовность и дальше укреплять стратегическое партнерство между двумя странами и вывести его на более высокий уровень.
