На Южном Кавказе начинаются Рожденственские праздники

Празднования Рождества и прихода Нового года уже вовсю начались на Южном Кавказе, и, как ожидается, они достигнут своего апогея в канун нового года. В Армении и Грузии Рождество празднуется в первую неделю января по православной традиции. Азербайджан является преимущественно мусульманской страной и не празднует Рождество. Все три страны в эти дни начинают празднования до 25 декабря. Для некоторых торжества продолжаются до 15 января - до старого нового года по российскому календарю.

Премьер-министр Армении Никол Пашинян в пятницу (20 декабря) вместе со своей семьей и мэром Еревана зажгли огни на новогодней елке на площади Республики в Ереване.

Ранее Пашинян сказал, что хочет сделать Армению большим новогодним направлением, и в этом году была подготовлена специальная программа для привлечения туристов в страну по этому случаю.

Clashes continued on Saturday morning (26 July), on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, as the two ASEAN countries resort to military means to resolve a border dispute between them that has been festering for over a hundred years. Casualties are reported on both sides, involving both civilians and military personnel, and the number of civilians displaced has already reached nearly 150,000. Thailand said its navy joined the army in repelling Cambodian attacks, in a sign that the conflict is expanding. The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the conflict.
