Европейский Союз присоединяется к празднованию в Азербайджане последнего вторника перед весной (Илахыр чершенбе). Последний вторник знаменует собой скорое наступление весны.

Глава делегации Европейского Союза в Баку, харизматичный дипломат Малена Мард, присоединилась к торжествам, предлагая традиционные праздничные сладости.

Согласно традиции в последний вторник перед праздником Новруз, земля просыпается и начинает дышать. Как сообщает агентство ТРЕН, согласно народным сказаниям, Новрузу предшествуют четыре вторника (на аз. - "чершенбе ахшамы", но принято называть "чершенбе"), каждый из которых посвящен пробуждению одной из природных стихий. Так, по вторникам каждой недели отмечаются Су, Од, Йел и Торпаг (называют Ахыр или Илахыр) чершенбе - соответственно вторники Воды, Огня, Ветра и Земли (или называют Последний, предпраздничный). Пробуждение этих элементов природы предвещает приход пятого, главного элемента, нового светлого дня - Новруза, начала возрождения и полного оживления земли.
