Скромные достижения стран Кавказа на Олимпиаде, но честь удовлетворена.

Армения, Азербайджан и Грузия продемонстрировали скромные достижения на Олимпиаде 2012 года в Лондоне, выиграв в общей сложности одиннадцать медалей на 14-й день (9 августа). Честь всех сторон была удовлетворена, так как все три страны продемонстрировали некоторые успехи. В действительности, многим гораздо большим странам пока еще не удалось завоевать медали. Из 204 команд, участвующих в Олимпиаде, только 70 удалось заработать медали. Грузия завоевала одну золотую, одну серебряную и одну бронзовую, Азербайджан две серебряные и три бронзовые, и Армения одну серебряную и две бронзовые.

Все три страны продолжают советские традиций и ставят акцент на спорте и подготовке своей команды задолго до начала Игр. Однако экономические соображения привели к тому, что на спорт в Армении и Грузии выделяются ограниченное количество денег. Азербайджан всегда подходил к своей олимпийской команде очень серьезно и по-прежнему тратит значительные суммы денег в своих олимпийских усилиях.

На сегодняшний день Соединенные Штаты лидируют по количеству медалей, за ними следует Китай. Неожиданно, но Великобритания находится на третьем месте, завоевав 25 золотых медалей, более чем в два раза больше России.
