Азербайджан чтит память жертв трагедии 20 Января

Сегодня Азербайджан отмечает годовщину событий 20 января 1990 года, когда советские войска вошли в Баку и напали на безоружных граждан, протестующих против советской власти. Это дата отмечается как день национального траура. В результате столкновений погибли сотни людей, но точное число до сих пор неизвестно. Советская армия вошла в Баку после того, как было объявлено чрезвычайное положение в ответ на народные протесты, требующие независимости Азербайджана от СССР.

Президент Ильхам Алиев и первый вице-президент Мехрибан Алиева посетили Аллею мучеников и возложили венок к мемориалу Вечного огня.

В церемонии поминовения присутствовали государственные и правительственные чиновники, лидеры религиозных общин, послы зарубежных стран и представители международных организаций, действующих в Азербайджане.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly calls for Release of Political Prisoners in Georgia

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has called for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Georgia in a declaration adopted during the Assembly’s 32nd annual session held in Porto, Portugal on 3 July. The declaration expressed alarm over the developments since the parliamentary elections held on 26 October last year including reports of arbitrary detentions, violence and ill-treatment of protesters, opposition leaders and media representatives, as documented by civil society organizations and the Public Defender of Georgia. The declaration also called for new elections to be held in Georgia.
