Баку чтит память 22-ой годовщины трагических событий 20 января церемонией на "Аллее шехидов"

Азербайджан чтит память событий 20 января 1990 года, когда тысячи советских войск вошли в Баку и жестоко подавили уличные протесты, которые проходили в городе. 137 человек были убиты, 744 ранены и 841 были арестованы. Ранее Советское правительство объявило чрезвычайное положение в Баку и пыталось перерезать все коммуникации связи между городами и внешним миром.

Эта дата считается одним из самых мрачных дней в периоде, который привел к окончательному краху Советского Союза. Последний советский лидер Михаил Горбачев в 1995 году сказал, что "Провозглашение чрезвычайного положения в Баку и отправка армии в город была самой большой ошибкой в ​​моей политической жизни ..."

Многие из тех, кто погиб тогда были похоронены на "Аллее шехидов" в центре Баку. В честь павших правительство и политические лидеры в течение всего дня будут прибывать на "Аллею шехидов".
