Абхазия стала победителем "альтернативного кубка мира" по футболу

Сборная команда самопровозглашенной Республики Абхазия стала победителем турнира, в котором приняли участие команды, представляющие непризнанные республики.

В понедельник, в Сухуми, команда из Абхазии в финале обыграла команду из Пенджаба, регион на севере Индии.

Абхазия объявила о независимости после распада Советского Союза в 1991 году и последующей войны с Грузией. Последние грузинские подразделения покинули регион в августе 2008 года после полномасштабной войны между Грузией и Россией из-за Южной Осетии. 26 августа 2008 Россия признала независимость Абхазии.

Президент Южной Осетии, Леонид Тибилов, раннее заявил о желании присоединения к Российской Федерации путем референдума. Первоначально в качестве даты проведения референдума называли лето 2016 года, но сейчас, похоже, референдум будет отложен.

Среди других участников турнира были Северный Кипр, Сомалиленд, Иракский Курдистан и Западная Армения, состоящая из представителей армянской диаспоры населяющих территории, которые в настоящее время являются частью современной Турции.

Команда Абхазии одержала победу на стадионе Динамо в серии послематчевых пенальти со счетом 6-5 после дополнительного времени, завершившегося со счетом 1-1. Альтернативный чемпионат мира завершился за день до начала чемпионата Европы по футболу, который состоится во Франции.
