Новый госсекретарь США Джон Керри продолжит придерживаться политики президента Обамы по обеспечению мира и стабильности на Южном Кавказе.

Об этом 1news.az сообщили в пресс-службе посольства США, комментируя вопрос о том, может ли новый госсекретарь, известный связями с армянской диаспорой, придерживаться проармянской политики в регионе.

«Что касается отношений между Азербайджаном и Арменией, то Соединенные Штаты по-прежнему будут привержены поиску мирного и устойчивого урегулирования конфликта посредством деятельности Минской группы ОБСЕ.

Прочное урегулирование конфликта может обеспечить лишь соглашение, достигнутое мирным путем», - отметили в посольстве.

Сенатор от штата Массачусетс Джон Керри был назначен президентом США на должность госсекретаря после утверждения его кандидатуры абсолютным большинством голосов (94 против 3) в Сенате.

Покинув Сенат, Керри сменил на посту главного американского дипломата Хиллари Клинтон, став 68-м госсекретарем США.
