Russia returns 1,200 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers

This is the second time in two days that Russia has handed over 1,200 fallen Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine.

This is one of the largest groups of Ukrainian war victims to be returned since Russia's invasion in February 2022. However, Russian state media report that Ukraine has not released any Russian bodies.

In total, Russia is said to have handed over more than 4,800 bodies to Ukraine over the past month. The exchange of prisoners of war and fallen soldiers forms part of the agreements made by both countries in Istanbul last month.
