В Москве пройдет рабочая встреча представителей азербайджанской и армянской интеллигенции

Сегодня пройдет рабочая встреча представителей азербайджанской и армянской интеллигенции - первая после четырехлетнего перерыва.

Об этом в своей статье под названием «Вторая попытка», опубликованной в «Российской газете», заявил специальный представитель президента РФ по международному культурному сотрудничеству Михаил Швыдкой.

«Разумеется, за это время происходили контакты на разных уровнях: от встреч президентов до участия спортсменов двух стран в международных соревнованиях, которые происходили то в Баку, то в Ереване, или, чтобы меня не заподозрили в проазербайджанской позиции, то в Ереване, то в Баку», - отмечает М.Швыдкой.

По словам М.Швыдкого, четырехлетняя пауза не могла быть случайной. «Несмотря на то, что дипломатические контакты не прерывались надолго, продолжить тот гуманитарный диалог, который был начат по инициативе Полада Бюль-Бюль оглы и Армена Смбатяна, которые были министрами культуры, а затем послами своих стран в Москве, долго не удавалось. По разным причинам. От личных, до продиктованных высшими (и часто непонятными простым гражданам вроде меня) государственными соображениями»,- отмечает он.

М.Швыдкой также отмечает, что есть немало людей, которые видят лишь одно решение проблемы - путем продолжения военного конфликта. «Но при любой готовности к новой войне надо понимать, что она повлечет за собой огромные жертвы с одной и другой стороны. В войнах вообще не бывает победителей, так как победы достаются невосполнимой ценой человеческих потерь. И как говорила одна французская писательница, кажется, Симона де Бовуар, если живешь долго, то убеждаешься, что и победители оказываются в проигрыше. Именно поэтому, сегодня компромисс не признак слабости, а признак силы.

Dozens participate in new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue process as societies prepare for the signing of historic peace agreement

The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan have recently agreed the text of a historic peace agreement that ends years of animosity and warfare. The agreement is expected to be signed soon. LINKS Europe, which has a long history of engagement with the process of peace in the region, recently launched a new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue format in the framework of the European Union's EU4Peace initiative. In the last two weeks dozens of Armenians and Azerbaijanis, including academics, students, civil society activists, journalists and other professionals, many of them young, were involved. The work is organised in five thematic groups focusing on peace and security, connectivity, environment, governance and gender and equality and in phase 2 of the project, which has just ended, around fifty participants took part in in-person and online meetings, and more than twenty others were involved indirectly. The Chairpersons of the five thematic groups met in Vilnius, 3-6 July to launch the third phase of the program. The five thematic groups are now working on separate reports, which are expected to be finished in November and presented to the two governments and other stakeholders. The reports will outline a vision, up to 2040.
