САММИТ ВОСТОЧНОГО ПАРТНЕРСТВА ОТКРЫВАЕТСЯ В ВАРШАВЕ

Саммит Европейского союза и с шестью странами по Восточному Партнерству открылся вчера вечером с гала-ужина для глав делегаций в научном центре Коперника в Варшаве. В саммите участвуют президенты Армении, Азербайджана, Грузии и Украины, и премьер-министр Молдовы. Беларусь представлена ​​только своим послом в Варшаве.

Украина и Беларусь затмили дискуссии в преддверии двухдневного саммита. ЕС выражает озабоченность по поводу продолжающегося содержания в тюрьме в Киеве бывшего премьер-министра Юлии Тимошенко, в то время, как в Беларуси продолжаются наступления на оппозицию, что не позволяет "нормальным" белорусам принимать участие в такого рода заседаний.

ЕС надеется, что саммит поможет активизировать Восточное Партнерство, подтвердит приверженность шестью странами-партнерами в основных европейских ценностях, особенно в области демократии и прав человека, и наметит будущие отношения между ЕС и его восточными соседями, в том числе возможное полное членство.

Будет два пленарных заседания саммита в пятницу, и итоговая пресс-конференция, как ожидается, во второй половине дня.

UK, Canada and majority of EU Member States condemn Israel for ‘inhumane killing’ and say the war in Gaza ‘must end now’.

Israel’s isolation is increasing as twenty eight countries including the United Kingdom and a majority of Member States of the European Union issued a joint statement on Monday 21 July saying the war in Gaza “must end now” and condemning Israel over 'inhumane killing' of Gaza civilians seeking aid. The foreign ministers of countries, also including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Japan, said “the suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths.” The statement described as “horrifying” the recent deaths of over 800 Palestinians who were seeking aid, according to the figures released by Gaza’s Health Ministry and the U.N. human rights office.
