Российские военные проводят учения в Южной Осетии

Подразделения российской военной базы 58-й объединенной вооруженной армии Южного военного округа (ЮВО) проводят военные учения в Южной Осетии. В них также участвуют подразделения Вооруженных сил самопровозглашенной Республики Южная Осетия.

По данным пресс-службы Южного военного округа России, в тактических учениях принимают участие более 3500 военнослужащих Южного военного округа, задействовано около 800 единиц вооружения и военной техники, в том числе: танки Т-72Б3, БМП-2, боевые машины пехоты, самоходные артиллерийские установки "Гвоздика", минометы "Сани", автоматические и ручные гранатометы АГС-17 и РПГ-7, а также стрелковое оружие.

Южная Осетия признается международным сообществом как территория Грузии. Грузия настаивает на том, что Южная Осетия в настоящее время находится под российской военной оккупацией, и говорит, что российское военное присутствие там незаконно.
