На Северном Кавказе убит лидер мятежных исламистов.

В воскресенье, 19 апреля, под Буйнакском, в Дагестане, в ходе антитеррористической операции был убит Алиасхаб Кебеков. Он был также известен как Амир Али Абу Мухаммад, которого в начале 2014 выбрали "преемником" Доку Умарова в качестве лидера "Имарат Кавказ".

По данным Национального Антитеррористического Комитета, в общей сложности в ходе спецоперации в доме, в котором они скрывались, были убиты пять боевиков.

Кебеков, которому было 43, родился в центральном Шамильском районе Дагестана, изучал арабскую и исламскую теологию сначала с местными клириками, а затем в Сирии. В 2005 году он вернулся в Дагестан, где преподавал некоторое время в медресе (религиозной школе) в Тарки до вступления в ряды повстанцев в 2010.

По данным НАЦИИ "Кебеков принимал непосредственное участие в организации убийства суфийского шейха Республики Дагестан Саида-афанди Чиркейского в 2012 году, а также в подготовке терактов в Волгограде в 2013 году."
