Алиев в доме №10. Азербайджанский и британский лидеры обсудили двусторонние и региональные вопросы. Обе стороны видят много пользы в текущих отношениях.

Президент Азербайджана Ильхам Алиев вчера побывал на Даунинг Стрит 10 на встрече с премьер-министром Великобритании Дэвидом Кэмероном. В центре внимания были вопросы двусторонних отношений, а также региональные и международные вопросы.

Сайт президента Азербайджана сообщает, что лидеры двух стран высоко оценили нынешнее состояние отношений между двумя странами. Также сообщается, что "между Соединенным Королевством и Азербайджаном существует успешное сотрудничество в ряде областей, в том числе энергетическом и нефтяном секторах, и перспективы этих связей велики."

Политический редактор Commonspace.eu в своем комментарии сообщает, что "История отношении между Великобританией и Азербайджаном уходит далеко в прошлое, и обе стороны видят много пользы в них, в том числе за счёт больших британских инвестиций в азербайджанскую углеводородную отрасль. Политические отношения между странами также являются хорошими, но могли бы быть лучше. За последний год было несколько штаммов в отношениях после интенсивной критики в британских СМИ прав человека в Азербайджане. Однако, оба правительства старались не превращать это в большой вопрос. Нет сомнений, что Великобритания хочет видеть больше приверженности со стороны азербайджанского правительства в отношении реформ. Британское правительство все еще надеется, что президент Алиев лично возглавит этот процесс, несмотря на некоторое сопротивление в его правительстве. Со своей стороны, Азербайджан не устраивает британская поддержка своей позиции по карабахскому конфликту и хочет видеть больше британского участия в процессе урегулирования конфликта. Оба вопроса были затронуты на вчерашней встрече на Даунинг Стрит."

Dozens participate in new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue process as societies prepare for the signing of historic peace agreement

The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan have recently agreed the text of a historic peace agreement that ends years of animosity and warfare. The agreement is expected to be signed soon. LINKS Europe, which has a long history of engagement with the process of peace in the region, recently launched a new Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue format in the framework of the European Union's EU4Peace initiative. In the last two weeks dozens of Armenians and Azerbaijanis, including academics, students, civil society activists, journalists and other professionals, many of them young, were involved. The work is organised in five thematic groups focusing on peace and security, connectivity, environment, governance and gender and equality and in phase 2 of the project, which has just ended, around fifty participants took part in in-person and online meetings, and more than twenty others were involved indirectly. The Chairpersons of the five thematic groups met in Vilnius, 3-6 July to launch the third phase of the program. The five thematic groups are now working on separate reports, which are expected to be finished in November and presented to the two governments and other stakeholders. The reports will outline a vision, up to 2040.
