АРМЕНИЯ-США-КАРАБАХ

США продолжат работать посредством сопредседательства в Минской группе ОБСЕ для достижения соглашения между Арменией и Азербайджаном в рамках мирных переговорах по Нагорному Карабаху. Об этом заявил директор Управления по делам Кавказа и региональным конфликтам Государственного департамента США Джастин Фридман, выступая на конференции, посвященной 20-летию независимости на Южном Кавказе, которая прошла в Центре стратегических и международных исследований в Вашингтоне.

По словам Фридмана, США продолжат также поддерживать процесс примирения между Арменией и Турцией и суверенитет Грузии. Администрация США проводит политику продвижения суверенитета всех трех стран Южного Кавказа так, чтобы они могли жить в мире, развивать свой экономический потенциал, построить систему демократического управления и защищать свободу и личные свободы своих граждан.

"В регионе пересекаются интересы трех держав - России, Турции и Ирана, которые имеют различные и противоречивые интересы на Южном Кавказе",  - отметил Фридман.

Он также отметил успехи, достигнутые в регионе, такие как превращение Грузии из коррумпированного государства в страну с прозрачным управлением и верховенством закона.

"Дальнейшая поддержка развития экономики и демократических институтов позволит странам Южного Кавказа, стать более стабильными и решить свои самые насущные проблемы безопасности", - заключил Фридман.
