German authorities announced on Wednesday (7 December) that they have arrested 25 alleged far-right extremists under suspicion of plotting to overthrow the state and replacing it with a Germany modelled on the Second Reich.

Last week on 29 November, the PMC Research Center published a study revealing that a quarter of all Georgians aged 15-24 do not work or study. Such people are also known as NEET: ‘not engaged in education, employment, or training’.

The United States Ambassador to Georgia, Ian Kelly, this week was quoted as describing the campaign ahead of the 8 October parliamentary elections as "very good and exemplary". Indeed, those familiar with Georgia's election history are pleasantly surprised, but point out that there are two weeks of campaigning yet, and of course election day itself, and surprises cannot be excluded.

Azerbaijan’s Supreme Council adopted the Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 18 October 1991, and this was later confirmed by a popular referendum in December 1991.
